The Tone Road Ramblers are legendary among improvising musicians. Their point of departure is jazz, but their sound embraces traditions from around the world, Western avant-garde, micro-tonality, and sounds yet uncharted. The ensemble had its debut concert in New York City in 1981. Since then the group has performed concerts in New York, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Tampa, Miami, San Francisco, Fresno, San Diego, Chicago, Ann Arbor, Austin, and Urbana. They have presented concerts at Festivals in Bucharest, Romania and Latvia, at Merkin Hall, NYC, and at the International Trombone Festival at
Urbana, Illinois. The Ramblers have recorded two LPs and nine CDs. This concert will include discussion and a Q&A session.
