DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS & OUTREACH, 40 North | 88 West

Position Summary:

Assists in the development and implementation of a variety of programs, projects, and events; assists in the maintenance of multiple databases including file management and project timelines; coordinates multiple volunteer committees. Fosters strong community relations, creating connections in arts, culture, and education sectors. Fosters business, education, municipal and social service relationships. Develops and maintains a network of communication with area arts organizations and assists with the development of annual goals and strategies of the organizational vision. Reports to the 40 North Executive Director.

Required Qualifications:

• Excellent written, verbal, communication, and presentation skills
• Ability to organize, plan, and oversee multiple projects and deadlines
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and accuracy
• Capacity to work 40 North events as needed on a few evenings and weekends throughout the year
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel

Duties include:

• Coordinate the annual Poetry Out Loud high school recitation curriculum and competition, recruiting participation from teachers and other stakeholders, identifying and working with venues for the regional final, and acting as a resource for program participants
• Under supervision of the Executive Director, help secure business sponsorships and partnerships for 40 North events, programs and services
• Coordinate volunteer committees where appropriate and work with the Executive Director to create agendas and manage committee projects
• Coordinate volunteers and interns to support 40 North events
• Assist with the overall application, documentation, and reporting for local, state, and federal grants
• Assist with the organization and prompt implementation of 40 North project and program deliverables
• Maintain and update multiple databases including donor, artist, and venue
• Maintain relationships with vendors and service providers, ensuring that all items are invoiced and paid on time
• Also assist the Executive Director with:
• preparing the annual 40 North work plan for board approval and implement that plan with board guidance
• preparing an annual report of 40 North accomplishments for presentation to the board and major funders during their budget process
• Perform other duties as assigned by Executive Director
