Framer's Market opened the doors of their family owned business in August of 1981 at 1201 S. Mattis Ave. in Champaign. In search of a larger facility, the business moved to their current home at 807 W. Springfield Ave., Champaign in January of 1983. The 7,000 sq ft building houses the frame shop, art gallery and ample area for production projects.
What started out as a do-it-yourself and custom framing business soon became solely custom. Framer's Market's many diverse projects have included a wholesale frame distributorship ---high volume framing---one order alone involved over 5,000 framed items in four months. As always, the shop's main focus is it's emphasis on creating the highest quality custom framing available for individuals and commercial accounts.
The frame moulding selection offered is unmatched by any shop in downstate Illinois. Mouldings offered range from $6.00 to $180.00 per foot. Hand carved wood and Italian gold and silver leaf are just a few of the vast finishes offered at Framer's Market. Matting selections range from acid-free museum mats to fine oriental silks. Glazing options include premium clear glass, conservation glass, reflection control available in regular and UV coatings, Plexiglas and Anti-reflective museum standard glass.
Over the last several years Rob DeLong and his talented staff have developed a fine art gallery representing mainly local artists. The gallery displays work by Charlotte Brady, Barry Brehm, Patrick Harness, Huan Nian, David Moore Smith and Bonnie Switzer. Original art is the core presentation although some limited editions prints and etching are shown. Sculptures by Steve Stoerger, Bill Stevens and Cindy Smith add a three dimensional feel within the gallery. Larry Hamlin of Mad Dog Press presents etchings.
Specializing in customer service has developed Framer's Market's reputation as the finest frame shop in the area. The individual attention each item and customer receives is unmatched.
