Organizational Bio

The Boneyard Creek Cloggers have been tapping, stomping, and sashaying their unique form of Appalachian folk dance since the mid-1980s.  Using steps and movements popularized by the Green Grass Cloggers of Greenville, North Carolina, the Boneyard Creek Cloggers combine fast-footed steps and large and small circle formations, dancing to old-time fiddle music, for a style of dance not performed by any other group in Illinois.

The Boneyard Creek Cloggers perform throughout central Illinois, and are an annual fixture at such festivals as Champaign’s Taste of Champaign, Vandalia’s Grand Levee, Greenville’s Dairy Days, and Cowden’s Pioneer Days.  The cloggers also perform for nursing homes, schools, and other groups.

An affiliate of the Champaign Park District, the Boneyard Creek Cloggers practice on Thursday evenings at the Springer Cultural Center in downtown Champaign, and teach clogging classes through the park district in the spring and fall.  New members are always welcome! And clogging is fun for everyone in the family – our performing members have ranged in age from 6 to 70-something.

For those interested in having the Cloggers perform at their next event, the Boneyard Creek Cloggers charge $150 for a half-hour performance; the price is negotiable for nursing homes and not-for-profit organizations.  We bring our own recorded music, but also love to dance to live music.
