ARTIST CALL FOR ENTRIES

40 North seeks entries of all media from established and emerging artists to be considered for rotating storefront exhibitions in downtown Champaign.

 

ELIGIBILITY

  • Established and emerging artists are welcome to apply.
  • Applicants may be an individual or an artist collective.
  • Applicants must be based in Champaign County.
  • Original artwork must have been created within the last three years and currently available to be exhibited.

  • It will not be possible for viewers to enter the exhibition space so your artwork will need to be viewable from the street.
ARTIST STIPEND

In order to help offset production time and expenses, a $100 stipend will be provided per storefront space. If multiple artists exhibit in the same space, the stipend will be divided equally.

ARTIST SELECTION PROCESS

Artists will be selected through an open application process followed by an advisory committee review. This advisory committee will be comprised of representatives of the Champaign-Urbana community and will provide feedback in regards to selections made by the project coordinator. All genres, styles, and media will be considered with an emphasis on high-quality, engaging, and impactful presentations.

SUBMITTING SAMPLES FOR REVIEW

DIGITAL SUBMISSION (preferred)

- CD, DVD, USB flash drive (clearly labeled with artist’s name)

  • up to 20 images in jpeg format
  • each image should be no larger than 1500 x 1500 pixels, 300 dpi, and 2MB
  • each jpeg should be labeled with artist’s name and number of image (for example: JenSmith001, JenSmith002)
  • word document or pdf with a list of the images and all pertinent information, i.e. title, media, any special hanging requirements, dimensions, date
  • word document or pdf with a brief bio (150 words or less), artist statement (300 words or less), and website info

- EMAIL SUBMISSION

  • Please limit size to 10MB per email. Please send completed application, labeled images, image list with pertinent information, brief bio, artist statement, and website (see above) to kwhite@40north.org.
