'Tourism Cares for Tomorrow' Offers Funding for Conservation Projects

Tourism Cares for Tomorrow (http://www.tourismcaresfortomorrow.org/), the tourism industry’s nonprofit organization, has announced the availability of special grants pertaining to cultural conservation. The group awards grants every year to worthy tourism-related nonprofit organizations worldwide for conservation or preservation of exceptional cultural, historic, or natural sites.

Tourism Cares for Tomorrow considers projects or programs with either or both of the following goals: 1) projects that protect, restore, or conserve sites of exceptional cultural, historic, or natural significance; and 2) programs that educate local host communities and the traveling public about conservation and preservation of sites.

Historically, grants have ranged between $10,000 and $20,000 each. However, based on merit and availability of funds, grants of up to $100,000 will be considered.

Deadline to apply: June 30 and November 1, 2006

Grant recipients must be 501(c)3 nonprofit, tax-exempt organizations, or, in the case of non-U.S. organizations, must function as the equivalent. Tourism Cares for Tomorrow's grantmaking goals for 2006 call for a balanced distribution to U.S. and non-U.S. recipients.

Visit the Tourism Cares for Tomorrow web site for complete program guidelines, an FAQ, and information on past grant recipients.
