"That Takes Ovaries!" Opens at Parkland Theatre

January 17, 2006
Champaign - Parkland College Theatre will present "That Takes Ovaries: Bold Females and their Brazen Acts" by Rivka Soloman, January 26-29. Directed by Randi Jennifer Collins Hard, this play is a bold, gutsy, brazen, outrageous, and courageous collection of real-life experiences and first-person dramatic narratives from women and girls. The 90-minute production features true tales of estrogen-powered deeds that range from playful and sassy to political, including women fighting for their human rights.

Each of the four performances will benefit a different local women's organization:
Sister Net on January 26, at 8 p.m.
Planned Parenthood on January 27, at 8 p.m.
A Woman's Fund on January 28, at 8 p.m.
National Organization for Women, Champaign Chapter, January 29, at 3 p.m.

The play's cast includes Claire Barker, Lauren Barnes, Bethanie Benshen, Rhonda Bynum, Shannon Chatman, Maggie Clark, Claire Cowley, Hannah Doty, Katrina Hill, Bekkah Horner, Ania Hreczuch, Rachel Ladd, Jessica Long, K.J. McKinnie, Sara Miller, Megan Mitchell, Carol Perhach, Lecloma Riley, Liz Thorpe, Pamela Van Wyk, Jonn Weiland, and LaDonna Wilson.

Performances will be followed by an open-mic session in which audience members (including guys!) can share stories of women acting boldly! All tickets are $6. For tickets call 217/351-2528 or e-mail theatre@parkland.edu
