2nd Annual WPGU-Buzz Local Music Awards Happening April 6

Champaign - Organizers have announced the 2nd Annual WPGU-Buzz Local Music Awards show, to be hosted by the Highdive (www.thehighdive.com) on Thursday, April 6th, in downtown Champaign, IL.
Tickets will be available for $5 online soon at Ticket Fusion.
The Local Music Awards are a celebration of the vibrant art community in Champaign-Urbana. The annual event exposes listeners and readers to the great and ever-growing music scene happening in Champaign-Urbana. Join WPGU-Buzz in thanking the artists who have been especially active in 2005 by voting for your favorite nominees.
In an effort to help listeners navigate the scene, a committee of local music enthusiasts was recruited by WPGU and the Buzz to lend insight into the nomination selection for the following award categories:
- Best Rock Band
- Best Hip-Hop/R&B Group
- Best Folk/Americana Band
- Best Jazz/Blues Band
- Best Female Artist
- Best Male Artist
- Best DJ
- Best New Artist in 2005
- Best Record-2005
Organizers at WPGU and Buzz recognize that the categories above do not cover all genres/participants in the local music scene. As a result, they have added two additional categories so that listeners and readers can write in their own nominations:
- Best Live Band/Performer
- Band you Most Want to see Reunite
Award winners will be determined solely by a simple majority vote of WPGU listeners and Buzz readers. Voting will be conducted from March 2nd - March 27th. Winners will be announced at the awards show on Thursday, April 6 at the Highdive.
March will be dedicated to special coverage in the Buzz and on WPGU to help listeners and readers get acquainted with these fine local artists.
