Imagining Krannert Center North Exhibit open until February 20

February 5, 2006
Urbana - The leadership of Krannert Center for the Performing Arts is envisioning a new initiative to extend the capabilities of the original facility through the addition of a new structure. It is thought that the new complex, Krannert Center North, will extend north from the current Krannert facility to Green Street. The projects in the exhibit, Imagining Krannert Center North, represent the work of 18 first-year graduate designers in the University of Illinois School of Architecture. The exhibit will be on view in the West Gallery of Temple Buelh Hall, 611 Lorado Taft Drive, until February 20, 2006.

The graduate design studio was conceived in the fall of 2005 as a laboratory to study the possibilities for the potential KCPA expansion. Each designer was challenged to create an architectural vocabulary which represented their response to the mission of the new center and to the proposed site.
