40 North/88 West collects and distributes a wide array of information about the people, organizations, and enterprises in Champaign County which constitute its arts, culture and entertainment community. But, 40 North can't succeed in its mission to inform without your input. Classes, Networking, Auditions, Grant Opportunites and Professional Development

This year’s National Arts Marketing Project Conference will focus on strategies for earned income and audience development that have gotten big bang for the buck. Sessions will highlight strategies and tactics in branding, high-tech e-marketing, guerilla tactics on a budget, researching diverse audiences, and collaborations of all kinds from organizations of all art forms and all sizes.



The YEA Program has two annual deadlines: The upcoming deadline is July 1, 2005 for programs occurring between September 1, 2005 - August 31, 2006.

The second deadline is January 15, 2006, and will be for programs occurring between March 15, 2006 - August 31, 2006.

    Savoy Orchard Days Celebration Issues Call for Vendors
    The Village of Savoy has announced plans to hold an inaugural festival in Savoy, IL - Savoy Orchard Days - during the weekend of October 21-22, 2006.  This inaugural festival coincides with the 50th anniversary of the formation of the village of Savoy. Festival organizers are now seeking vendors for the 2006 Orchard Days Festival. Participating vendors will be set up throughout the grounds during the weekend.

    The 14th annual Artists Against AIDS exhibition and sale, featuring the work of more than 200 local artists, will be held in downtown Champaign from Friday, April 28 through Monday, May 1. Organizers have announced a Call to Artists for items to be exhibited and sold at the event, whose proceeds go directly to the Greater Community AIDS Project (GCAP), a local non-profit agency providing support services for those affected by HIV/AIDS

    Krannert Center Announces A Call For Musicians
    Krannert Center for the Performing Arts has announced a call for musicians to perform at Krannert Uncorked beverage tastings the first Thursday of each month. These are paid gigs which run from 5-7pm. If you are interested in performing at Krannert, submit a tape or CD with at least three songs. Please include your name, day and evening phones, and email address. Acts should be acoustic or low-tech. Acclaimed actress and educator Mindy Manolakes hosted the proceedings before a standing-room-only crowd.

    Krannert Center for the Performing Arts will participate in this year's Downtown Festival of the Arts (DFOTA) taking place the weekend of August 20-21 in Champaign's Westside Park.     Work continues on the transition at Urbana's downtown post office, purchased by the Independent Media Center in early May. Danielle Chynoweth, chief negotiator for the purchase by the IMC, has provided an update for the project.

    The Parkland Art Gallery has announced the 2005 Parkland Student Digital Media Juried Exhibition and Award winners. A jury of professionals in animation and graphic design selected the year's best student work in graphic design, web design, and computer animation.

    IMC Purchases Urbana Landmark

    The downtown Urbana post office building is being transformed into a community media and arts center, with the post office services remaining at their current location. On Thursday, May 5th, the Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center (IMC) closed on the purchase of the post office building as its new home.

    Savoy Orchard Days Celebration Issues Call for Vendors
    The Village of Savoy has announced plans to hold an inaugural festival in Savoy, IL - Savoy Orchard Days - during the weekend of October 21-22, 2006.  This inaugural festival coincides with the 50th anniversary of the formation of the village of Savoy. Festival organizers are now seeking vendors for the 2006 Orchard Days Festival. Participating vendors will be set up throughout the grounds during the weekend.
