UC-IMC Announces Slam-Jam Romp-Stomp Fundraiser

Urbana - The Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center has announced a cultural showcase to benefit the IMC / Books 2 Prisoners program. Slam-Jam Romp-Stomp takes place from 7:00-9:00 pm, Saturday, January 28th, at the UCIMC, 202 S. Broadway, Urbana (in the old Urbana Post Office). Contact the UIMC (217-344-8820) for further details.
The event will feature Tyehimba Jess (award-winning performance poet), Matt Murrey (poet & activist), The Theory of Everything (metaphysical, political, spacefolk rock with funk and finesse), DJ liMbs & UC Hip Hip, The Radical Cheerleaders, Uni High Writers and others.
A suggested donation of $5-$20 will be asked at the door. All proceeds will be divided between the Independent Media Center & the Books2Prisoners program . They willl also be collecting paperback dictionaries for Books2Prisoners.
