Rep. Naomi Jakobsson and 40 North | 88 West Host Arts Grant Awareness Event with Illinois Arts Council
January 24, 2006
Urbana - State Rep. Naomi Jakobsson teamed up with 40 North | 88 West and the Illinois Arts Council on January 23 for an Arts Grant Awareness Event to help local organizations, institutions and artists understand the Council's grant process and other resources available.
Over 50 individuals attended the event, which took place Monday evening at the Urbana Free Library. Representatives of local cultural organizations joined artists, school administrators, educators and members of the public as Illinois Arts Council staff spoke about the types of grants available from the state, the qualifications for receiving such grants, and how to apply for them. The meeting also addressed the different types of arts programs and services offered by the Arts Council.
The Illinois Arts Council (IAC), a state agency with a thirty-five year history, recognizes and supports not-for-profit arts organizations, community programs, schools, universities and individual creative artists through grant programs, technical assistance, workshops and special initiatives.
