Women's Glee Club "Work Days" Fund Raiser Announced
September 27, 2005
Champaign-Urbana - The University of Illinois Women's Glee Club has announced their annual "Work Days" fund raiser. The funds generated by this unique program help the group pay for performance tours across the country. This year the event will take place over three weekends: October 1-2, October 8-9, and October 15-16.
During these weekends, members of the Women's Glee Club will be available to help out with odd jobs in locals homes in two, three, or four hour shifts, between the hours of 9am and 4pm. The hourly rate is $10 per person, with funds raised going to the Glee Club. The women will be able to perform a wide variety of odd jobs which include leaf raking, garage cleaning, window or car washing, baby sitting, and even putting up Halloween decorations. As in the past, the Glee Club asks that the volunteers not perform personal tasks such as scrubbing toilets, bathroom tubs, etc.
Volunteers will be working in groups of two or more, so customers are asked to take workload into consideration when determining how many hours of service will be needed for a particular job.
Those interested in hiring the Glee Club volunteers to help around the house or yard should email Katie Van Eck (eckvan@uiuc.edu) or call Katie at 847-987-8433.
