  • Multi-Arts Production Fund 2006 Program Guidelines
    A program of Creative Capital and supported by the Rockefeller Foundation, the Multi-Arts Production Fund supports original new work in all disciplines and traditions of the live performing arts. An online application form will be available January 2, 2006. Deadline: February 10, 2006. www.mapfund.org.


  • Society for the Arts in Healthcare Invites Applications for the Blair Sadler Awards
    A program of the Society for the Arts in Healthcare, the Blair L. Sadler International Healing Arts Competition recognizes artists -- both professionals and students -- for exemplary visual, performing, or multidisciplinary art projects that have had a measurable impact on the quality of the healthcare experience for patients, visitors, and staff.   • Illinois Arts Council Arts-in-Education Residency Program
    These Illinois Arts Council grants provide support for artists residencies in schools and communities statewide. Residencies last from one to six months. Primary and secondary educational institutions, community colleges, and local community organizations are eligible to apply, as well as four-year colleges and universities if the residency involves local K-12 student population.   • Edler G. Hawkins Foundation Invites Applications from Arts Nonprofits
    The Edler G. Hawkins Foundation, Inc. seeks to support nonprofit arts organizations working to preserve African American arts and culture through youth education and community outreach programs. Funds are available for general operating or project support. Applicants must have nonprofit tax-exempt status and an annual operating budget that does not exceed $300,000.   • Cintas Fellowships in Visual Arts and Architecture Available to Cuban Artists
    Cintas Fellowships are designed to acknowledge the creative accomplishments of artists of Cuban citizenship or direct descent and encourage the excellence of these artists in architecture, literature, music composition, and the visual arts.  Fellowships are awarded annually in the amount of $15,000.  For 2006, fellowships will be awarded in the fields of  Visual Arts and Architecture (2007 fellowships will be  awarded in the fields of Visual Arts and Music Composition; 2008 fellowships will be awarded in the fields of  Visual Arts and Creative Writing).

  • Nominations for County Public Arts Leadership Award
    Americans for the Arts and the National Association of Counties (NAC) seek nominations for the 2006 County Public Leadership in the Arts Award. This award is given in recognition of an elected official or governing board whose role in advancement of the arts and arts education within his or her community, and whose vision and leadership, provide heightened visibility to the value of the arts.   • Illinois Arts Council Program Grants
    Illinois Arts Council FY07 Program Grants applications are now available. This program provides support to Illinois not-for-profit organizations that provide arts programming of high artistic merit in dance, ethnic & folk art, literature, media, multi-disciplinary, music, theater, and visual arts. Grants are available for either general operating support or for project support. Deadline: March 15, 2006. www.state.il.us/agency/iac


  • New NEA Guidelines
    Application guidelines for the next round of Grants for Arts Projects are now available on the NEA's website. Within each arts field or discipline, organizations may apply under the following categories:

    Access to Artistic Excellence: To encourage and support artistic excellence, preserve our cultural heritage, and provide access to the arts for all Americans. An organization may request a grant amount from $5,000 to $150,000. Two deadlines: March 13 and August 14, 2006 www.arts.gov/grants/apply

Challenge America: Reaching Every Community Fast-Track Review Grants
To support projects that extend the reach of the arts to underserved populations. Grants are for $10,000. Deadline: June 1, 2006.   www.arts.gov/grants/apply

Learning in the Arts for Children and Youth:
To advance arts education for children and youth in school-based or community-based settings. An organization may request a grant amount from $5,000 to $150,000. Deadline: June 12, 2006.   www.arts.gov/grants/apply


  • National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts and MetLife Foundation Renew Partners in Arts Education Project
    The National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts and the MetLife Foundation have announced the renewal of the MetLife Foundation Partners in Arts Education Project. The project's goal is to improve teaching and learning in the arts by advancing high-quality, sustainable partnerships between community schools of the arts and public schools.   • Joyce Awards to Fund New Work by Artists of Color at Midwest Cultural Institutions
    Funded by the Chicago-based Joyce Foundation, the Joyce Awards provide grants of $50,000 to support projects that advance the creation and production of works by artists of color in music, theater, visual arts, and dance. The program's goals are to enable Midwest cultural institutions to commission new work by artists of color; to expand the repertoire of art that speaks to diverse urban audiences; and to enhance the creative environment in the region.   • VSA arts Playwright Discovery Award
    The VSA arts Playwright Discovery Award invites middle and high school students to take a closer look at the world around them, examine how disability affects their lives and the lives of others, and express their views through the art of playwriting. Young playwrights with and without disabilities are encouraged to submit an original one-act script that explores any aspect of disability. Entries may be the work of an individual student or collaboration by a group or class of students. Deadline: April 14, 2006. http://www.vsarts.org/


  • Theatre Communications Group/International Theatre Institute Travel Grants
    The Theatre Communications Group / International Theatre Institute Travel Grants program is designed to support cultural exchange and artistic partnerships between theater professionals in the United States and their counterparts in Russia and Eastern and Central Europe. The program awards theaters and individual theater professionals (artists, administrators, or educators) $2,500 each, which may cover transportation and living expenses essential to the project, including research materials, communication costs, theater tickets, and/or the services of an interpreter. Deadline: April 28, 2006 and October 27, 2006. http://www.tcg.org/


  • VSA Arts Playwright Discovery Teacher Award
    The VSA arts Playwright Discovery Teacher Award was established to recognize middle and high school teachers who creatively bring disability awareness to their classrooms through the art of playwriting. A panel of theater professionals and educators will select one middle or high school teacher for this award. Teachers may nominate themselves for this award, or they may be nominated by a middle or high school colleague. Deadline: July 1, 2006. http://www.vsarts.org/
