3rd Annual Downtown Festival of the Arts Announced

Champaign - This August marks the 3rd annual Downtown Festival of the Arts. In a sophisticated atmosphere that appeals to a wide variety of art conscious consumers, the event will feature a broad spectrum of artistic styles.


Jurying
To ensure a high quality exhibition, all applications are carefully reviewed by a panel of art professionals. Originality in conception and execution, quality of workmanship, and excellence of design are primary criteria by which the submitted artwork is evaluated. Acceptance is based upon works presented for consideration by the jury. Decisions made by the Selection Committee Jury of the Downtown Festival of the Arts are final.

Application Procedure and Deadline
The application deadline is Friday, May 5, 2006. Applications may be mailed to the Bresnan Meeting Center, 706 Kenwood Road, Champaign, IL 61821 or delivered in person Monday through Friday between 8:00am and 5:00pm. Space is limited so apply early and include slides or digital photos.

Waiting List
Applications received after May 5, 2006 will be placed on a waiting list. Waiting list applicants will also be juried. Waiting list applicants may be notified of acceptance up to two weeks before the event.

Slides/Photos
Five (5) slides or digital photos are to be submitted for each individual category entered. Art documentation should be no more than one year old. If work varies significantly from slides/digital photos, Champaign Park District staff reserves the right to remove the pieces.

Fees
A $5.00 nonrefundable Jury fee is due at the time of application. After notification of acceptance, a $70.00 booth fee is required no later than Friday, June 16, 2006. Refunds for cancellations will not be made after Friday, June 16, 2006. Checks should be made payable to the Champaign Park District.

Booth Spaces and Tents
Each exhibitor is provided with a 10’ x 10 display space within West Side Park in downtown
Champaign. The artist is responsible for providing their own tent, tables, chairs, and display materials. Should you choose to rent a tent, tents will be made available through the Champaign Park District. Tents will be 10’ x 10’ and will be rented through a local supplier at the reduced rate of $75.00. Booth spaces are determined by Champaign Park District staff; we are unable to ensure any booth requests.

Security
Security will be provided throughout the night, however, the Champaign Park District is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items.
