Cultivating Creative Communities
October 24-27, 2006
Charlotte, North Carolina (USA)
- What defines a livable community?
- How can the communities provide a higher quality of life for citizens while fostering equity of opportunity?
- How can communities generate successful regional collaboration for sustainability?
- How can communities grow into economic engines of exchange in the creative economy?
- How can we intertwine issues regarding the environment, fairness, jobs, regional leadership, and livability to create a sustainable and livable city in today’s world?
These issues and more will be examined through keynote speeches by world renowned experts, concurrent panels showcasing success stories from the field, and site tours around the greater Charlotte region for hands on learning and observation. The conference will be divided into 4 main tracks: Amenities, Creativity, Equity, and Sustainability and will offer attendees an array of topics on such things as urban planning, creative industry development, youth investment, financing strategies, leadership training, regionalism, and diversity.
In addition, this innovative forum will feature an invaluable international panel showcasing best practices from around the globe, and expects a very impressive line-up of distinguished international panelists to lead and participate in this event.
