Volunteers Needed for big. small. all. Workshop

January 19, 2006
Champaign County - Organizers are seeking volunteer facilitators to handle the expected 350 - 400 attendees at a Stakeholders Workshop scheduled for January 27, 8am-12pm.

The big.small.all.champaign county. project is moving into its next phase, the Community Assembly.  This will start with the Stakeholders Workshop on January 27.

At the Stakeholders Workshop an invited group, along with members of the general public, will take the results of the Community Dialogue meetings held late in 2005 and begin to develop goals and specific action plans.  The participants in the Stakeholders Workshop will work in small groups on exercises to map "strong and weak places" and to address "critical questions." This will result in identifying key subject areas about which goals and action plans will be developed in greater detail.  This meeting will also include formation of committees to work on each key subject over the coming months.

Facilitator Training
Facilitators will require special training for their roles at the workshop. These training sessions will run for two hours (over and above the four-hour committment for the workshop itself). There will be two training sessions held on Thursday, January 26, 2006.  Training is available that day either from 1:00 - 3:00 pm or at an evening session running from 5:30 - 7:30 pm.  The training sessions will be held at Illinois Terminal, 45 E. University Ave, Champaign.   Free parking is available nearby.

The Stakeholders Workshop will be held from 8:00 am. until noon on Friday, January 27, at the Holiday Inn, 1001 Killarney Street, Urbana.

Those interested in volunteering as a facilitator at the Stakeholders Workshop should contact Jennifer Armstrong (217-351-9841) at the earliest opportunity.
