City of Urbana Taking Applications for Arts Intern

Urbana - The City of Urbana is now accepting applications for the position of arts intern. Individuals wishing to apply for this part-time opening can download the application here. Submit cover letter, resume, and completed application to Personnel Office, 400 S. Vine St., Urbana IL  61801, or fax to 217-384-2426. The arts intern will work closely with economic development staff and city council on a variety of tasks, including: researching public arts programs, drafting ideas for the incorporation of art within the community, assisting with special events related to the arts, providing support for the establishment of a public arts commission, collecting information related to arts-related initiatives within the community, assisting with a variety of arts-related tasks for economic development.

Requirements

  • Coursework in the arts, fine arts, economic development, community development, or a related field. 
  • Understanding of the arts.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications including MSWord is required.  
  • Familiarity with municipal government process and procedures is a plus.
  • Experience with Adobe graphics software such as Illustrator, Photoshop and PageMaker are a plus. 
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.

Hours
Intern should be able to work a minimum of 15 hours per week. Hours should be regular but may be scheduled around class and exam times.
