40 North | 88 West Benefit
Urbana - On Friday, February 29, 2008, members of Champaign County's creative community came together for a lively evening of fun, fellowship and food in support of 40 North | 88 West - Champaign County’s Arts, Culture and Entertainment Council. 40 North's first-ever Masquerade Ball was held that night at Alice Campbell Alumni Center on the University of Illinois campus at Urbana-Champaign.
40 North, along with Masquerade Ball Title Sponsors Busey Bank, Illini Media, English Hedgerow and Andy Warfel Environment Design were proud to welcome attendees to the Alumni Center for a magical evening of dance, music, art and intrigue. Guests dressed as their favorite artists, literary or film characters, poets, dancers and famous works of art. The Krannert Center for the Performing Arts costume department provided an extensive selection of items with which guests could accessorize their costumes. English Hedgerow caterers provided a delightful banquet of hors d'oeuvres, wine and champagne. Dancers from the U of I Department of Dance mingled with the crowd as they performed to music provided by marimba player Matt Jacklin, percussionist Rocky Maffit and DJ Greg Bugbee.
The evening was a wonderful celebration of the art that lives here in Champaign County.
