thank you!

The Board of Directors and staff of 40 North | 88 West want to thank all those involved for making the 2010 Boneyard Arts Festival a success.

With over 400 artists, 100 businesses, three dozen sponsors and thousands of patrons participating, this year’s Boneyard was a true celebration of what’s making our community a great place to live, work and play. Through your support, the Boneyard Arts Festival continues to thrive as a showcase for the cultural life of Champaign County.

Presented annually by 40 North and sponsored by The News-Gazette and Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, the Boneyard Arts Festival has grown into an 'open source' festival that Champaign County residents have truly made their own. The 2010 Boneyard featured sites - both indoors and out - where residents and visitors alike could partake of an incredibly diverse range of performing, spoken and visual art.

This year’s Festival was string band music in Sidney, didgeridoo in downtown Urbana, a cinema festival in Champaign, ukelele on the U of I campus, opera and origami, glass blowing and graphic design, puppetry and painting, juggling and jewelry, Balinese dancing and BBQ, hip hop, photography, ceramics and so much more.

40 North offers its sincere thanks to all the participating artists, the venue businesses and organizations, and to the countless members of the public who ‘closed the circle’ with their attendance and their purchases.

None of this could have happened without the support of 40 North's Boneyard Arts Festival Sponsors and the dozens of volunteers who began work on this event in mid 2009.

Boneyard Basics
The 40 North Boneyard Arts Festival is an annual four-day event showcasing the broad range of creative activity flourishing in our community. Its goal is to bring together local artists and businesses for a special event showcasing the art that lives here.

More than a traditional arts walk, the Boneyard is a unique countywide celebration that takes place in a wide variety of venues (over 100!) - both traditional (clubs, galleries & museums) and non-traditional (ice cream shops & real estate offices) - and features the work of literally hundreds of artists.

Sculptors, weavers, painters, photographers and other visual artists join musicians, actors, dancers, poets and performers of all kinds in sharing their creativity throughout Champaign, Urbana, Campustown, Dewey,  Rantoul and Sidney. 40 North invites artists to partner with local businesses, arts organizations, nonprofits, schools or municipal offices in hosting a performance or display of work...and join the celebration!

What's New
The Boneyard Arts Festival has grown! We added a day to the festival roster in 2009, expanding the event to include Thursdays. And - just as important - we've designated a different day for each of the festival's four districts, making it even easier to experience the Boneyard to the fullest!
