SIGHT SPECIFIC
SIGHTSPECIFIC - a pilot program brought to you by 40 North | 88 West - is a rotating series of storefront exhibitions in the downtown Champaign area. The program offers visual artists a unique opportunity to display their work and engage a new, wide-ranging audience, while property owners will enjoy the impact of fine art in urban spaces.
Art work will be selected after review by an advisory committee, and all visual arts genres, styles, and media will be considered.
40 North | 88 West is pleased to announce the current series of storefront exhibitions in downtown Champaign.
The exhibitions are located inside:
57 East Main (old Trader’s World, next to Memphis on Main) through July 13th: features sculptures by Obadiah Clarke. Born in Exuma, Bahamas, Obadiah works with alabaster as well as a variety of exotic wood types including seagrape, mahogany, and sapodilla. His subject matter ranges from representations derived directly from Bahamanian culture to soulful and stylized depictions of life's internal struggles.
The Art Theater’s ticket booth (126 W. Church) also through July 13th: features the vibrant watercolors of Shoshanna Bauer. Her abstract subject matter is spiritual and metaphorical, while her more representational work is often whimsical and fantastic.
The next rotation in the series will begin July 16th.
