Creation Stations
there are five stations for you to express your artist vision.
you can play at one, all, or none.
or you can just twirl on soft grass under a big, blue sky.

  1. Chapeau City
bring out your inner Edith Head

  2. Tango
not just for the Addams' Family anymore

  3. Story
add your plot twist or telling character moment to the Great American Story (Champaign County Version)

  4. Jewelry
    talk to me Harry Winston

  5. The Collective Unconscious
help create a work of art that defines this moment in this time, of this place

Art can make us
as giddy
as twirling on soft grass
under a big,
blue sky.

It can make us shiver
with thrill.
It can purge our pain.

People need art. The drive to create it,
experience it, celebrate it is part of
what defines our humanity.

We need to feel the rush of joy that comes from making art, be it grand or humble, high or low, serious or silly. Yet it always seems to be last on the list: something we'll get to right after we've finished the e-mail, driven the kids, done the laundry, walked the dog...

Tonight, art comes first.

Thank you for being here, supporting 40 North, supporting art. Go ahead and create. Make a hat, advance a story, dance. Drink with flair, arrange the food on your plate, engage in the art of talk.

It's up to you.
